Native Americans throughout the Amazon basin have long used the seeds and nuts of a variety of trees and plants make necklaces, bracelets and other jewelry. This lot includes 20 seeds from a plant called cerebrito (scientific name unknown). The seed coats were incompletely removed, leaving irregular dark marks on the surface, and the beads were dyed crimson.

Because these are natural seeds, there are variations in size. They are barrel-shaped, 18-19 mm tall and 10 mm in diameter. The holes are drilled vertically, and are small, about 1 mm in diameter.
