These 20 ceramic beads were hand-made and hand-painted by expert Peruvian crafts people. The clay was shaped and fired, painted and glazed, then fired a second time for a true ceramic hardness.
The painters describe themselves as artists, and with justification. The design depicts a llama and a woman spinning yarn on a drop spindle. It wraps around the beads, so they appear different from different angles.
Because they are handmade, there are variations in the sizes of the beads and in the sizes and positions of the holes. These barrel beads are about 15 tall and 11 mm in diameter through the middle, with holes about 3 mm in diameter.
