These 50 ceramic beads were hand-made and hand-painted by expert Peruvian crafts people. The clay was shaped and fired, painted and glazed, then fired a second time for a true ceramic hardness.
The painters describe themselves as artists, and with justification. The design of these beads shows a llama in the high Andes. It wraps around the beads, so that they appear different from different angles.
The lot includes 10 each of a similar design done in five different colors. Because they are handmade, there are variations in the sizes of the beads and in the sizes and positions of the holes. They are about 17 x 9 mm, with 3 mm holes.
