These ten ceramic skull beads were hand-made and hand-painted by expert Peruvian crafts people. The clay was shaped and fired, painted and glazed, then fired again for a true ceramic hardness. These skulls are painted a mottled brown. The eye sockets, nostrils and teeth are hollowed out.

Because they are hand-made, there are slight variations in the sizes of the beads, the sizes and positions of the holes, and the decoration. They are about 16 mm tall, 13 mm across the front, 15 mm front to back, with 2 mm holes. The holes run vertically through the skulls.
