Native Americans throughout the Amazon basin have long used the seeds and nuts of a variety of trees and plants make necklaces, bracelets and other jewelry. This lot is a 1 oz. package of about 100 hand-drilled seeds from the Amazonian rosario plant (Coix lacryma jobi), known in English as Job's tears. Their color varies from white through various shades of grey with occasional brown.
These seeds are from the Peruvian Amazon. They have an irregular barrel shape. Because they are natural seeds, there are variations in sizes. In general they are about 12 x 8 mm in diameter. The holes are natural to the seeds. They run horizontally, from end to end, and are small, about 1 mm in diameter.
