This 16 in. strand includes about 24 Andean serpentine stone beads. The beads were hand-cut in a rectangle shape and drilled by Peruvian crafts people. The beads are coated with a clear solution that helps to smooth and protect them and enhances their luster but are untreated and otherwise unaltered.

Because they are handcut, there are variations in the sizes of the beads and the sizes and positions of the holes. They are about 16 mm long and 8 x 8 mm on the end, with 1 mm holes. The ends are joined with screw findings made of alpaca silver (an alloy of nickel, tin and zinc).
