This 16 in. strand includes about 25 Andean soapstone beads. The beads were hand-cut in a tube or cylinder shape, drilled, and polished by Peruvian crafts people. The beads are coated with a clear solution that helps to smooth and protect them and enhances their luster.

Because they are handcut, there are variations in the sizes of the beads and the sizes and positions of the holes. They are roughly 16 mm long and 8 mm in diameter, with 1 mm holes.
