Sodalite has a long history of use in Peruvian jewelry, both in the Andes and on the coast. It is frequently found in burials during archaeological excavations and continues to be used today. The stone for these beads is from Bolivia but the beads were hand-cut, drilled and polished in Peru. They have a wax finish.

This 16 in. strand contains 120 beads cut in a rondelle shape. They are cut in graduated sizes from about 5-7 mm in diameter. They are 2-4 mm thick. The holes are small, about 1 mm in diameter.
