These wonderful ceramic dolphin beads were hand-made by talented Peruvian crafts people. The depict a mother dolphin with a baby. They are painted with both flat and enamel paints, which make some features stand out.

Because they are handmade, there are variations in the painting and the size and position of the holes. They are about 23 mm tall, 25 mm across front, 22 mm front to back, with 2 mm vertical holes.

In Peru, beads like this are often used as bolo (bola) ties. Although relatively large, they are suprisingly light, and would also serve nicely as a necklace or car mirror pendants or Christmas tree ornaments. They also stand well alone as miniature figurines.
