This 16 in. strand includes about 65 Andean soapstone beads. The beads were hand-cut in roughly square or rectangular shapes, drilled and polished by Peruvian crafts people. The beads are coated with a clear solution that helps to smooth and protect them but they are not treated or otherwise altered. They are are cut in graduated sizes, from about 5 x 7 x 5 mm to 11 x 11 x 6 mm, with 1.5 mm holes.
