This 16 in. strand includes about 65 Andean soapstone beads. The beads were hand-cut in roughly square or rectangular shapes, drilled and polished by Peruvian crafts people. The beads are coated with a clear solution that helps to smooth and protect them but they are not treated or otherwise altered.

The color is mostly brick red but because they are cut from natural stone some strands may vary from the example shown. The beads are cut in graduated sizes, from about 5 x 7 x 5 mm to 11 x 11 x 6 mm, with 1.5 mm holes.
