This 16 in. strand includes about 27 Andean soapstone barrel beads hand-cut, drilled, and polished by Peruvian crafts people. The beads are coated with a clear solution that helps to smooth and protect them but they are not treated or otherwise altered.

Because they are hand-cut, these vary in size and in the sizes and positions of the holes. Most are about 15 mm tall and 8 mm in diameter, though some are smaller. The holes are small, about 1 mm in diameter.
